Large loads will not be permitted however.
E-waste piles up problems in Palmyra
TVs and computers are BANNED BY LAW from landfills and CANNOT be collected or accepted by the Borough.
PLEASE DO NOT PUT THEM OUT FOR TRASH — YOU WILL BE FINED!
SO WHAT DO YOU DO?
- If you buy a new TV ask the retailer to take your old one.
- Goodwill Donation Centers work with an Ewaste Recycler to take non-working, intact, TVs and computers for recycling.
- Residents may now take up to 2 computer monitors/TVs to the County Resource Recovery Complex in Mansfield. There is a $20 fee for more than 2 of these units. Other computer parts and electronic equipment are accepted for free. (THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF 2 TVs/MONITORS PER RESIDENT AT NO COST HAS BEEN TEMPORARILY WAIVED.)
- The Borough may sponsor another ewaste dropoff event for residents in the fall but the situation is volatile and the laws are changing. Plus it now costs the Borough $100 PER UNIT – residents however, may drop off 2 to the county for free!
