All; it has come to our attention that some comments posted on social media have doubted the validity of this information and even referred to it as “fake news.” We assure you that this information is accurate and current as of the date/time provided.

Every evening county officials release the current case count with the information sent via email to Mayor Gina Ragomo Tait, Office of Emergency Management Executive Coordinator Richard Dreby, and me, Borough Administrator John Gural.

It is then posted here as soon as possible in order to keep our residents as informed as possible; and we post the information exactly as it’s received. (Except we do highlight the information specific to Palmyra and add the time of day it’s received immediately under the date.)

In addition, the Health Officer for the Burlington County Health Department, the senior staff member behind Director Dr. Herb Conaway, has personally called with significant updates including when our first case was recorded and, unfortunately, when our first death from COVID-19 occurred. The information, and the calls, are provided 7 days a week.

Finally, information is also made available to our first responders about infections so they themselves can take necessary precautions to avoid contracting the virus.

The following information is accurate; please take it seriously – anything less would be a disservice to our families, neighbors and the community as a whole, and puts everyone at risk.

Thank you very much for your continued cooperation.

John Gural
Borough Administrator

CONTACT TRACING CLARIFICATION

Burlington County is actively engaged in contact tracing positive COVID19 cases. The focus is on close contacts, defined as closer than 6 feet for more than 10 minutes, household contacts and those that work in high risk settings such as healthcare workers and long term care facilities. If community exposure has occurred, where a COVID-19 positive person was in close contact with people for an extended period of time, while symptomatic, we will notify the public. Since residents are abiding by the social distancing requirements, we have not run into that issue since our first releases. Reminder: Mass exposure, due to social distancing guidelines, and the cooperation of the public has been minimized. Residents are reminded to remain 6 feet apart while obtaining essential items or services, and stay home unless absolutely necessary.
