Educational Impact Study: findings to be presented to the Board of Education and community. UPDATE: Meeting moved to High School Auditorium!
UPDATE: TONIGHT’S SPECIAL MEETING WILL NOW BE HELD IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM AT 7:00 PM.
The Palmyra Board of Education previously contracted with Effective Education Solutions, LLC, to conduct an Educational Impact Study pertaining to Grade reconfiguration with specific focus on Grades 6-8 and the possible establishment of a comprehensive middle school. The study will be presented by Mr. Dave Hespe and Dr. Ron Butcher on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 beginning at 7:00 PM in the Delaware Avenue School multi-purpose room. The presentation will afford opportunity for the Board of Education and members of the community to ask questions specific about the study.
Based on the 5-Year Strategic Plan for the Palmyra School District, specific goals and objectives provide guidance for the examination of grade configurations within the schools. Specifically, Goal III, Objective 5.4 states, “Evaluate classroom size, grade structure, and location of Middle School students to formulate a best practices model for the Palmyra School District.” The Board is taking deliberate steps to solicit professional input and school community input before making a decision. At this time, no decision has been made by the Board of Education on the reconfiguration of Grades within the district.
