POLICE OFFICERS

The Palmyra Police Department is accepting applications for the position of full-time Police Officer. Applicants must be 18 – 35 years of age and be NJ Police Training Commission Certified as a Municipal Police Officer, a SLEO II within their wavier period, or alternate route. Applicants must be citizens of the US, residents of New Jersey and have a valid NJ Driver’s License.

REGULAR AND SUBSTITUTE CROSSING GUARDS – NEEDED NOW!

$20 per Shift (beginning April 1st) and a onetime $200 Sign-On Bonus for all Regular Crossing Guards!

Interested parties should complete an Employment Application that can be picked up at Police Headquarters or found on the Borough’s website and submit it to the Palmyra Police Department via US Mail, or by putting it in our drop box in front of Borough Hall. Applications can also be emailed to police@palmyrapd.org or dropped off at Police Headquarters.  Applicants must be 18 years or older.  A pre-employment medical exam including a physical, hearing, and vision evaluations are required as well as a background check, including a criminal check, and pre-employment drug testing.  The position pays $17.58 per shift for a Regular Crossing Guard ($20 per shift beginning April 1st plus a $200 Sign-On Bonus now!) and $14.60 per shift for an Alternate (works as needed).  The Borough of Palmyra is an Equal Opportunity Employer.


 

PART-TIME COMMUNITY CENTER STAFFERS

The Borough is seeking motivated, organized self-starters, with a friendly, professional attitude to coordinate scheduled activities for our community center, youth athletic fields, parks and other recreational facilities. Duties include managing and maintaining scheduling requests from various organizations that utilize the facilities; addressing questions and concerns; and providing interested parties with information, policies and procedures regarding the use of the facilities. The Community Center Staff members will also have responsibility for securing the Community Center at night and on weekends. Some supervisory experienced is preferred. Excellent customer service, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are required, with ability to prioritize tasks. Selected individuals will be working with Borough staff and perform other duties as assigned and must be proficient in MS Word and Excel. This position is part-time in the evenings and weekends and is a great opportunity for energetic multi-taskers who want to be part of a hard-working team in a fast-paced environment. Deputy Municipal Clerk
The Borough of Palmyra seeks a Deputy to the Municipal Clerk. Successful candidate must be highly self-motivated, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and have the ability to multitask efficiently. Must be computer proficient and experienced with municipal software programs. Position requires ability to assist the Municipal Clerk with all statutory duties, including but not limited to; preparation of agendas, resolutions, minutes, ordinances, public record requests, issuing various permits and licenses, record management, attendance at Council meetings and elections. Candidate must have ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality and be customer service oriented. Must be able to effectively manage and meet multiple deadlines, and interface effectively with the Governing Body, Administrator and other Department Heads, residents, employees, volunteers, business owners and professional consultants. Must be able and willing to assume duties, responsibilities, and authority of the Municipal Clerk when the Municipal Clerk is not present. Registered Municipal Clerk Certification (RMC) is strongly preferred with minimum 3 years of government experience or must be willing to obtain RMC certification within 2 years. Salary range $40,000 – $45,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Part or full-time considered for right person.
