Introducing: Susan Doerr

Four in a series of articles spotlighting Borough of Palmyra employees, volunteers and community members.

Wow!  After 23 years Susan is retiring!  And August 30th will be her last day.

The Borough of Palmyra has seen many changes over the last two+ decades but the one constant during that entire time has been the pleasant, smiling face of one of our favorite employees and friends – Susan Marie Doerr.

“Sue” was hired on June 11, 1990 as a Tax Clerk and fortunately for the Borough she has continued working in that office ever since, having been promoted to the position of Deputy Tax Collector many years ago.

Sue has collected taxes from Borough residents tens of thousands of times over the years.

Sue has been married to her husband Lowell for 40 years (not possible because she looks so young!) and has one son Daniel and daughter-in-law Nadine.  Daniel and Nadine blessed Susan with a grandson, Ethan, who was born in October 2011.  Sue graduated from Palmyra High School in 19xx (no way we’re saying) and she and Lowell have lived in Cinnaminson for over 30 years.  The happy couple continue to enjoy their date night every Thursday.

Sue loves, and we mean loves, Tak-A-Boost! Everyday Sue can be seen returning from lunch with a large Styrofoam cup of the syrupy drink.  And she is the MASTER OF OFFICE SUPPLIES – taking very seriously her responsibility to use loads of paperclips and tape, ah, we mean make sure we have loads of paperclips and tape, and plenty of other office necessities too.

In her retirement, Sue will tell you that she plans on sleeping late and spending time with her family, especially her pride and joy, grandson Ethan.

We all wish Sue a long, happy retirement and want her to know that she will be missed by everyone here at Borough Hall and by our residents and taxpayers as well.

If residents have the opportunity please stop in before Sue leaves and thank her for her many years of dedicated service.  And don’t forget to bring a large Boost.
