Problems With Trash? Who Ya Gonna Call?
Complaints about the Borough’s trash collection contractor, Central Jersey Waste & Recycling, Inc., reached a crescendo Monday evening, June 20, 2016, during the Regular Borough Council Meeting resulting in passage of a resolution intended to force compliance — or else.
RESOLUTION 2016-171 Authorizing Solicitor William Burns to review the trash removal contract with Central Jersey Waste & Recycling Inc. for potential breach of contract, was adopted unanimously.
Upon learning that their contract with the Borough was in jeopardy, Central Jersey came to the table prepared to do what the Borough is paying them for or suffer the consequences.
Effective with the next trash collection, Friday, June 24th, Central Jersey will only utilize automated trash trucks with either front load systems or rear load tippers — no more dumping our trash carts in conventional rear load trucks by hand and leaving trash at the bottom (for our residents to deal with!) because the carts are too big for them to handle.
In addition, a special Route Supervisor will accompany the vehicles — and utilize a special GPS system — to make sure all of our residents and businesses are serviced. No more missed pickups!
Recognizing however, that mistakes sometimes happen the Borough wanted to also implement another stopgap approach.
If your trash is not collected by 4:30 PM on Friday afternoons residents are asked to call Central Jersey Waste toll free at (888) 870-8566, or call Customer Service at (609) 771-8005.
If you do not receive a satisfactory response however, please call Public Works at (856) 829-8215 and leave a message! We’ll retrieve the messages early Saturday mornings and contact the Central Jersey Route Supervisor directly. Your trash will be picked up!
Thank you for your cooperation.
