Please Help the Road Department Help You!
Public Works is asking for the help of residents to help keep our town looking beautiful and to minimize costs. PLEASE help the Street Department keep the streets clean. This starts with policing your own curbs of large items – cans- bottles – cups – etc. It will save time and reduce wear and tear on our equipment, which translates into better cost effectiveness.

Public works services
The services described in this section may not pertain to residents living in the harbor, Riverfront or Willow Shores. Residents of these developments should call their Main Office for more information about services offered.

Curbs, Sidewalks and Trees
Property owners in Palmyra are required to maintain curbs and sidewalks in satisfactory condition at their own expense. The trees located between the sidewalk and the street are Borough property. Please contact the Palmyra Shade Tree Committee at 829-6100 for suggestions about dealing with problems caused by tree roots from a Borough tree. Please DO NOT trim tree roots as this will create a serious hazard.

Christmas Trees

Place Christmas trees curbside, not in the street, and not in plastic bags. Please be sure to remove all tree stands, ornaments and tinsel.

Snow Removal

Residents must clear a 30″-wide path on their sidewalks after a snowfall of 2″ or more, within 12 daylight hours of the snowfall. If you are unable clear your sidewalks, make arrangements with someone to take care of shoveling for you. In order for snow plows to clear the streets, residents are asked to move their vehicles off the streets.
