Received from County officials on 5/26/2021:

OTC* is now facing a severe driver shortage which is causing delays in collection.

There will be no recycling collection in Palmyra next week (scheduled for Thursday, June 3rd due to holiday) and collection will be postponed until the following week.

The staffing situation is very fluid and changes by the day.

We will update you on Tuesday, June  1st regarding expected makeup dates.

The month of June will present a serious service challenge because the federal exemption that allowed OTC truck drivers to work extended hours will expire on May 31st.

OTC has been aggressively hiring and using a “temp” agency, but a national driver shortage has made it extremely difficult to find and retain drivers.

We will be posting schedule delay information on the County’s website and Facebook page and sending notices via Recyclecoach.

Please urge resident to sign up for notifications on Recyclecoach.

To reduce the amount of material at the curb, please encourage residents to bring overflow cardboard to your drop-off (Public Works Yard, Firth Ln — Monday – Friday 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, Wednesday until 7:00 PM, and Saturday mornings from 7:00 AM until noon.)

NOTE: Palmyra Public Works is now open every Wednesday evening from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM for bulk trash and recycling!

Please spread the word that OTC is looking for CDL – Class B drivers with air brake endorsement. Resumes may be emailed to Jim McGurl at jmcgurl@otc.bc.org.  For hiring questions, please contact Jim at 609-267-6889 ext. 154.

We expect that the next collection cycles will also be delayed and will update you accordingly.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thank you.
