Single Stream Recycling begins Thursday, September 4th!

UPDATE FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD: SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING COLLECTION BEGINS TOMORROW, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH!  YOUR BLUE PAPER CART BECOMES YOUR SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING CART SO PLACE YOUR BOTTLES AND CANS IN WITH YOUR PAPER AND CARDBOARD.  PLACE YOUR BLUE CART(S) AT THE CURB THIS EVENING OR TOMORROW MORNING BY 6:00 AM.

If you find that your recycling won’t all fit into your existing blue cart and you will need an extra cart for the over flow, email Burlington County Recycling at recycle@co.burlington.nj.us or call (609) 499-1001 after September 12th.

For Riverfront residents only:  New, blue Single Stream Recycling Carts have been delivered.  The County provided a mix of 64 and 48-gallon carts depending on your type of unit.  If you don’t want a blue cart you may return it to Public Works* (see hours below) and continue to use your old, smaller round bucket.  Don’t wish to use your old round bucket either?  Then simply take your recyclables to Public Works!

*If you’re not able to transport the blue cart to Public Works please call Marie at Palmyra Borough Hall at (856) 829-6100 ext. 130, and she’ll make arrangements to have it picked up.

For Harbour, Korman Suites and River Villas residents:  Please continue to utilize the existing containers in their respective enclosures.

For the remainder of the community (with curbside recycling):  If you ordered one, the county delivered your new, blue, extra Single Stream Cart.  If you wish to exchange your new cart for a different size (we have 96 and 64-gallon sizes only), please call Marie at Palmyra Borough Hall at (856) 829-6100 ext. 130, and she’ll make arrangements to have it switched.  Please be patient however, as the Borough has a limited supply of Single Stream Carts with more available in the near future.  Please note that the old, smaller round buckets will no longer be collected curbside — EXCEPT IN THE RIVERFRONT, where rear load trucks must still be utilized!

FOR ALL RESIDENTS: If you wish to recycle your old round recycling buckets please drop them off at the Public Works Garage on Firth Lane*, weekdays from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, and Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

*If you’re not able to transport the blue cart to Public Works please call Marie at Palmyra Borough Hall at (856) 829-6100 ext. 130, and she’ll make arrangements to have it picked up.

Please note that Palmyra’s
first Single Stream curbside
recycling collection is scheduled for:

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH

(Note:  Due to the Labor Day holiday on September 1st, your collection is one day later than normal.)

On THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH:

  • Put all your recyclables (paper, flattened cardboard, bottles and cans) into your existing blue cart as well as into your new, extra blue cart.
  • Stop using your old recycling bucket (that previously held your bottles and cans).

And remember – No TRASH or plastic bags!

PLEASE DO NOT USE OLD RECYCLING BUCKETS AS TRASH CONTAINERS – THEY WILL NOT BE SERVICED!

Important Single Stream Tips:

  • Recycling will continue to be every other week, please refer to the curbside collection schedule at   http://www.co.burlington.nj.us/DocumentCenter/View/1797
  • We will be testing new recycling routes to adjust to single stream collection over the next few months.
  • As a result, we cannot predict what time of day the recycling truck will pass through your neighborhood.
  • To ensure your recycling is collected, you must have CARTS CURBSIDE BY 6AM.
  • To keep your cart lids from breaking, make sure to set your cart with the metal bar facing the street.
  • Leave 3 feet between your carts and mailboxes, basketball nets, trees, cars, etc.
  • NEVER PUT PLASTIC BAGS IN YOUR RECYCLING
  • If you can’t fit all recyclables into your cart, flatten cardboard and set it next to the carts or take it to your municipal dropoff.

Did you know?

  • Your recycling program is funded by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.
  • In 2013, recycling costs were less than $3/home per month.

Help us keep recycling costs low by following recycling procedures carefully and only recycling materials we can accept.
