Did you know the State of New Jersey Division of Taxation offers the following Property Tax Relief Programs?

PROPERTY TAX REIMBURSEMENT– (SENIOR FREEZE)

reimburses eligible seniors and disabled persons property taxes increases on their principal residence.

2023 APPLICATION DEADLINE OCTOBER 31, 2024

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • AGE/DISABILITY:  Homeowner 65 or older on December 31, 2022 or
    Receiving Federal Social Security disability benefits on or before December 31, 2022
  • HOME OWNERSHIP:  You owned and lived in your home since December 31, 2019 and lived in that home of December 31, 2023.  IMPORTANT CHANGE:  New legislation eliminated the requirement applicants must be a resident for 10 consecutive years.
  • PROPERTY TAXES:  The 2022 property taxes must have been paid by June 1, 2023 and the 2023 property taxes must be paid by June 1, 2024.
  • INCOME LIMIT:  IMPORTANT CHANGE:  Income limits have significantly increased:
    • 2022 -150,000 or less
    • 2023- 163,050 or less

 

AFFORDABLE NEW JERSEY COMMUNITIES FOR HOMEOWNERS AND RENTERS  (ANCHOR)

provides property tax relief to New Jersey residents who own or rent property in New Jersey as their principal residence and meet certain income limits.

  • The filing deadline for the 2023 ANCHOR (based off 2020 residency) was December 29, 2023.

 

THE BOROUGH OFFERS THE FOLLOWING PROPERTY TAX DEDUCTIONS:

 

If you are a qualified Veteran, Widow of a Veteran, Senior Citizen, Disabled Person, or Surviving Spouse of a qualified Senior Citizen or Disabled Person, you may be eligible for deductions, which reduce your property tax liability.  Under certain conditions, combined deductions may be allowed, i.e.: Veterans and Senior Citizens.

 

THE BOROUGH OFFERS THE FOLLOWING SEWER DISCOUNTS:

All seniors age 65 on January 1st of the current year and residents receiving the property tax deduction for seniors, disabled persons & veteran deduction and exemption are eligible for a discount.
