Help Wanted: Technical Assistant and Code Enforcement Officer

The Borough has two open positions and is accepting applications for the following:

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT TO THE CONSTRUCTION OFFICIAL/GENERAL OFFICE CLERK

BOROUGH OF PALMYRA, seeks a full-time Technical Assistant to the Construction Official (TA) and general office/scheduling clerk. The TA reports to the Construction Official and provides assistance in the issuance of construction permits to ensure compliance with the provisions of the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. DCA Certified Technical Assistant highly preferred; may consider someone with relevant experience and able to obtain certification within 12 months. Knowledge of the provisions of the NJ UCC as it relates to the activities of the office required. Work includes extensive interaction with the public, scheduling inspections, collecting permit fees, data entry, and other duties as required for a busy office. Successful candidate must be computer literate and experienced in Microsoft Office and MC Systems. Excellent customer service skills are a must, and candidate must possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. The Borough of Palmyra is an Equal Opportunity Employer. CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER

BOROUGH OF PALMYRA, is accepting applications for a part-time Code Enforcement Officer (CEO). The CEO is responsible for enforcement of property maintenance codes and related ordinances such as non-compliant conditions on private and public property including unsanitary or potentially dangerous conditions; accumulations of garbage and refuse; and unsightly conditions of property and structures. The CEO is also responsible for proper administration of the Borough’s vacant and abandoned property ordinances. At a minimum the successful applicant will have two years related experience; a licensed NJ Housing Inspector or UCC Building or Fire Inspector is highly preferred however.
