If your trash is not collected by 4:30 PM on Tuesday afternoons residents are asked to call Borough Hall at 829-6100 or Republic Services at (856) 234-4000.
After 4:30 PM (or if Republic Services does not respond) please call Public Works at (856) 829-8215 and leave a message! We’ll retrieve the messages early Wednesday morning and contact the Republic Services Route Supervisor directly. Your trash will be picked up!
ORDINANCE 2013-26, AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF PALMYRA AMENDING CHAPTER 230: SOLID WASTE, ARTICLE III: COLLECTION, OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF PALMYRA. As adopted 08/19/2013.
Summary of Ordinance 2013-26
- Do not place your trash cart at the curb prior to 5:00 PM on Monday (and no later than 6:30 AM on Tuesday); trash carts must be removed from the curb by 9:00 AM Wednesday.
- All trash must be placed in green Borough-provided trash carts.
- Additional carts can be purchased by calling (856) 829-8215. The cost for a 95-gallon cart is $95, a 64-gallon cart is $64, and a 32-gallon cart is $32. Additional carts are available after October 4, 2013.
- Single-family dwellings are permitted 2 containers maximum; Multi-family dwellings are permitted 1 container per dwelling unit; Business and commercial properties are permitted 2 containers per the number of authorized sewer connections (based on sewer utility fees paid).
- Do not place bulk trash at the curb prior to 5:00 PM of the day preceding scheduled collection and no later than 6:30 AM on the day of collection.
- Do not place brush & limbs at the curb prior to 9:00 AM of the day preceding scheduled collection and no later than 6:30 AM on the day of collection.
- For 2018 do not place leaves at the curb prior to Sunday, April 1st (for spring collection) and in the fall prior to Saturday, October 27th (Fall/winter curbside leaf collection begins Monday, October 29th. See below for more information)
Construction contractors must remove their own waste and debris including rug/carpet installers.
Regular trash (in green 95, 64 & 32-gallon carts) is collected every Tuesday.

Regular trash can also be taken to Public Works on Saturday mornings from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon).
- Automated Trash Collection on Tuesday begins on April 3rd, 2018. Your trash collection day is every Tuesday.
- All regular household and business trash must be placed in the green 95, 65 and 32-gallon trash-only carts. Any additional trash can be taken to Palmyra Public Works located on Firth Lane on Saturday mornings from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Trash may also be taken to the Burlington County Landfill.
- Do not place your trash cart at the curb prior to 5:00 PM on Monday (and no later than 6:30 AM on Tuesday); trash carts must be removed from the curb by 9:00 AM on Wednesday.

The Borough does not collect or accept the following:
- Construction debris. Items generated by contractors or from major home remodeling, demolition or construction must be taken to the Burlington County Landfill for disposal.
- Trees and large limbs. Tree limbs, stumps, etc., cut down by contractors must be removed by the contractor or taken to the Burlington County Landfill for disposal.
- Electronics. TV’s, computers, etc., must be taken to the Convenience Center at the Burlington County Landfill. Residents are permitted to drop off two TVs, free of charge. Please call (609) 499-5300 for more information.
- Paint, chemicals, asbestos, propane or gas tanks. All hazardous materials must be taken to the Burlington County Landfill for disposal. Please call (609) 499-5300 for more information.
- Whole house cleanouts! The Borough has limited container space and the contents of entire houses must be taken to the Burlington County Landfill.
- Do not place any of the items above in your trash cart or at the curb for bulk pickup!
Bulk Trash is collected curbside the first Monday of every month (except on holidays when it’s collected on Tuesday).
Bulk trash can also be taken to Public Works on Saturday mornings from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon) and Wednesday evenings until 7:00 PM during the summer.

The following bulk trash items will be collected curbside on the first Monday of the month:
- Furniture (sofas, bookcases, etc. – 2 – 3 items maximum – manageable size only)
- Rugs and carpet (must be rolled and tied in 4’ lengths maximum)
- Mattresses and box springs (must be fully covered!)
- Large plastic toys
- Mirrors or glass table tops that have been covered with newspaper and taped to prevent breakage
- Bathroom fixtures (single item only: tubs, sinks, toilets)
- White goods and appliances (single item only: dishwasher, range, refrigerator)
- Wood (bundled and tied 2×4’s, 4’ in length and 50 lbs. maximum)
- Concrete, block and bricks (manageable pile equivalent to one 4’x4’ sidewalk pad)
- Tires (on or off rims)
- Metal items
- Pressure-treated wood (bundled and tied separately from regular wood)
- Single items from minor home repair (wood door, bathroom vanity)
- Unused plastic and metal trash cans (empty)
THE BOROUGH WILL NOT COLLECT OR ACCEPT WHOLE HOUSE CLEANOUTS!
Brush & limbs are collected curbside the second Monday of every month from January through October only, and throughout the month of April.
Brush & limbs can also be taken to Public Works on Saturday mornings from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon).

Brush & limbs are not collected with regular or bulk trash. Brush & limbs are only collected on the second Monday of the month, from January through October only and again during the month of April. Please do not place brush & limbs in your trash – it will not be accepted by the county landfill!
Leaves are collected curbside throughout the month of April and again from the first week of November through the end of December only.
Leaves will also be accepted at Public Works. For 2020, leaves are collected curbside throughout the month of April (spring collection) and in the fall beginning November 2nd through December 31st only.
Do not place leaves at the curb prior to April 1st (for spring collection) or prior to the last Saturday in October for fall/winter collection.
Grass clippings are not collected curbside, but may be placed in your cart with regular trash.
Grass clippings are not accepted at Public Works. We encourage residents to “cut and leave it” or mulch or compost it, but since it is presently accepted by the Burlington County Landfill it can go into your trash cart.
