The Borough’s 5-year contract with Central Jersey finally comes to an end after trash pickup on Friday, March 30, 2018 – the last day they will be responsible for curbside trash collection.

In anticipation the Borough solicited bids* from trash collection contractors from across the state and we’re happy to report that Republic Services, an experienced, professional firm won the very competitive contract.

Republic Services has offices in Mt. Laurel, NJ and automated collection (like we have here in Palmyra) is their specialty.

Bulk trash will remain the first Monday of every month.

 

*In order to obtain the lowest, responsive bid possible the trash collection contractors were permitted to select, from a range of days, the curbside trash collection day that worked best for their operations. Republic Service selected Tuesdays for curbside collection and their winning bid totaled $1,118,306.40 over 5 years for both curbside and dumpster services.

 

Republic Services, Inc is the second largest provider of non-hazardous solid waste collection, transfer, disposal, recycling, and energy services in the United States, as measured by revenue. The company is active in recycling, reducing carbon emissions by replacing diesel trucks with compressed natural gas powered trucks, supporting composting and other community projects which relate to environmental conservation, sustainability and education.
